Our classic bikes

are for riding...

new logo 2016

Our monthly meeting venue is Ye Olde Hotel in Leuchars. Come along and enjoy the hospitality, the good craic, and plenty of classic bikes on the lichty nights. Non members are welcome, and even more so if they bring full wallets and join up on the night! We've been experimenting with a second club night on the 4th Wednesday of the summer months, and details of these will be presented in the Banter to club members. In the winter, we may have occasional speakers and presentations, as well as the famous January Auction, where unwanted books, parts and tools are sold for club funds.

Members benefit from our tool-hire scheme, where various tools such are carbalancer, timing strobe, carbtune and the club trailer are available for members to hire at no charge.

The club holds 4 key annual events, including Spring, Summer and Autumn gatherings, and a Summer Run of about 100 miles or so. We also hold several 'pop-up' events, including the ever popular "Wee Smokies" held at the Meadowbank in Arbroath, and publicised via our Facebook Group and The Banter. Click the events calendar tab on the left for details, or the "contact us" tab if no details are shown. Ad hoc additional events may be added to supplement the main events, and of course a club presence can be expected at several other clubs' events throughout the year.

If you think you might enjoy what we do, please contact us for membership details. New members are always welcome. Like all clubs, you will get out of it what you put in, and we're always looking for energetic individuals who can help to make things happen!  Don't just sit there, get involved!

We have an active Facebook Group , where you can take a closer look at what's going on.

History

The Scottish Classic Motorcycle Club was founded in 1976, initially operating in the Strathtay and Fife areas, but now extending further afield. Although we're still largely concentrated in East Central Scotland, we welcome members from all areas of Scotland, and our events reflect that.

The ethos of the club is simple: we enjoy riding our classic bikes, so the emphasis is on keeping those bikes on the road, not on the trailer. Our key event, open to members only, is the Scotia Challenge, and involves riding to 45 checkpoints throughout the country, usually involving some island hopping, and even the odd foray South of the border, with the aim of achieving the coveted Gold and Platinum Awards. There's a nominal entry fee, to cover the cost of trophies.

SCMC Membership fees have been reduced to only £10 for the 2020 season, and include 12 issues of The Banter, our renowned monthly newsletter, issued by e-mail to paid-up members.

We define as Classic anything over 15 years old, but nobody will turn up their nose if you arrive on something more modern, as your daily ride. Many members have projects that haven't left the shed yet...  We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, from about 7.30 pm onwards, except in December, when we usually have a pre-Christmas meal and social event for members and partners only.

Stop Press:

All SCMC activity, including all meetings, gatherings, runs and Scotia Challenge are suspended indefinitely, until such time as Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. Hopefully, we'll get back to some new kind of normal before the year's out. Stay safe, stay home, and keep in touch via our Facebook Group.

Club Constitution Tool Hire

Under Construction: due to the forthcoming demise of Adobe Flash, on which the previous site depended, we are migrating to a new version, so some features will be missing until we get them rebuilt. Sorry for any inconvenience
